County Commissioners Commemorate Community Planning Month

At the October 2nd public Sunshine Meeting, the Chester County Commissioners presented a proclamation for National Community Planning Month, recognizing the efforts of local, county, and regional planners who manage the growth and change of Chester County, providing better choices for how residents work and live.

During the presentation of the proclamation, the Commissioners highlighted Landscapes3, the county’s next long-range comprehensive plan, as an example of community planning. 


Upcoming Urban Centers Forum to Focus on Housing

If you are a municipal official, staff member, main street manager, or consultant for one of Chester County’s municipalities, consider attending an upcoming Urban Centers Forum that will focus on fair housing, housing advocacy, housing tools, and development success stories.

The forum will take place from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. October 11 at the Downingtown S.T.E.M. Academy, 335 Manor Ave., Downingtown. This free event is open to representatives of Chester County’s municipalities on behalf of the Chester County Commissioners. Though the forum is geared toward urban centers, it may be of interest to municipal officials throughout Chester County since the topic is housing. RSVP today!



Join us at the October 2nd Landscapes3 Public Meeting

Join us at a public meeting on October 2 to hear details about the full draft of Landscapes3 and provide feedback. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. and be held at the Chester County Intermediate Unit, 455 Boot Road, Downingtown. A dedicated public comment period will follow the meeting opening and a presentation on the plan. This will be a joint public meeting conducted by the Chester County Planning Commission board and the Landscapes3 Steering Committee. 



Chester County Municipalities Move Forward with Future Plans

Congratulations to the Chester County municipalities that are moving forward with plans that will help their communities thrive.

Malvern Borough recently completed a Multimodal Transportation Study that evaluated existing issues in the borough and identified ways to improve the transportation network. Primary concerns were pedestrian travel issues, regional multimodal connections, cut-through traffic, and safety for all transportation modes.



Community Planner Celebrates 25 Years with Planning Commission

For the past 25 years, Chester County Planning Commission Senior Community Planner Mark Gallant has helped municipalities develop road maps for the future of their communities. And he’s enjoyed every moment of it thanks to all the people he’s met along the way.

The Chester County Planning Commission has updated its list on the status of Transportation Priority Projects. This list is updated every six months and includes highway and trail projects and public transportation. View the status of the projects.



Key Portions of Brandywine Battlefield Will Be Preserved Forever

Two pieces of land that are part of the Brandywine Battlefield were recently secured as protected open space – one of which was celebrated on September 11th, which was the 241st anniversary of the legendary American Revolutionary War Battle of Brandywine. 



Planning Commission Makes Progress with Landscapes2 Goals

Chester County continues to make progress in achieving the goals of Landscapes2, the county’s current long-range comprehensive policy plan, as shown in the annual Landscapes2 Index Report Card. 



New Resource Provides Updates about 2020 Census

It’s that time again. Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau conducts its count of the United States’ population. The Pennsylvania State Data Center created a new online resource to help people stay up-to-date on the process. Check out the new webpage



Landscapes3 is Nearing Completion

The Chester County Planning Commission is due to complete a full draft plan for Landscapes3, the next long-range plan for Chester County’s future. The draft incorporates input from residents, municipal officials, and other stakeholders.
