The 2010 Brandywine Battlefield Animated Map has been updated as part of a recent grant from the American Battlefield Protection Program. The update shows revised troop movements in the western portions of the battlefield based on the latest historical findings from Chester County Planning Commission’s phased battlefield strategic landscapes planning program. In addition, the Planning Commission has received a $90,000 grant from the American Battlefield Protection Program for the next phase of its strategic battlefield planning program. The grant will allow the Planning Commission and its partners in the Brandywine Battlefield Task Force to examine the combat area in the eastern Brandywine Battlefield. In celebration of this significant grant award and wonderful collaborative partnership, the task force in cooperation with Thornbury Farm – located in the heart of the battlefield – is having a fun fall fete at the farm from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 1.
