We are excited to welcome a familiar face back to the Chester County Planning Commission as our new Community Planning Director, Bill Deguffroy!
Bill is excited to work with Chester County’s municipalities to implement Landscapes3 (the county’s comprehensive plan) through a vast range of projects and initiatives. “CCPC makes a huge impact on communities in Chester County through research, policy guidance, the Vision Partnership Program, and our work with municipalities,” noted Bill. “The Community Planning Division works on a wide range of topics including comprehensive planning, historic preservation, urban planning, housing, economic development, etc. It is a lot to wrap your head around, but every day brings a new challenge or opportunity to learn. We have a really talented team that I am happy to be a part of.”
Growing up in Penn Township, Westmoreland County (about 20 miles east of Pittsburgh), and after spending a few years in Indiana, PA, Bill moved east with his family; landing in Phoenixville where they’ve resided for the last ten years.
While Bill has a soft spot for Pittsburgh and enjoys vacationing in Florida as well, his favorite place in Chester County is downtown Phoenixville. During his spare time, Bill can often be found relaxing at home with his family or out on the trails. Some of his favorite hobbies include playing volleyball and mountain biking – and although not a “favorite” of his, Bill recently took up running and plans to participate in a half-marathon next year. He also enjoys visiting amusement/theme parks and camping with his family.
If you’ve seen or know Bill, chances are you know his beard. When asked for a fun fact to share, Bill noted that his children, who are 7 and 10 years old, have never seen his face without a beard! (Maybe someday…?)
We’re excited to have Bill back on board, and we look forward to working with him on all things Community Planning!
